It's superb in isometric games, such as The Ascent, Synthetik, or Hades. I've played D2 more than any other game, yet in recent years I mainly play WASD games.
Lasty I hope they add WASD as an accessibility option. They have a large dev team of over 100 people focused on seasons specifically, so the content should be robust. Hopefully seasons are well done too, with a large amount of content. There was a brief demo awhile ago of test runewords, yet they didn't have as much of their D2 identity, something the devs admitted as the reason for delaying their implementation. Ideally sets won't be meta (one of the biggest problems with D3) and runewords would be similar to D2. Then they confirmed we'll eventually get sets and runewords. But I hope we still have more complex uniques, with ultra-rare drop odds, similar to D2. Legendary aspects are a neat mechanic, in that you can swap them with ease. The only thing I'm unsure about is itemization.
Ray tracing is confirmed for D4 too, but isn't included in the beta. Effects were possibly better in D2R, but there's certainly more variety in D4. Mainly because of the demanding elemental effects and crisp detailing. I've played essentially all options and would have considered D2R to be the best currently. The graphics are also the best in an ARPG I've ever played. In that pacing isn't very fast, yet actions and spells are snappy. Then combat feels visceral, like a combination of D2 and D3. Such as the story, the voice acting is significantly better than D3 and it really conveys a more gritty tone. The itemization alone is nearly perfect in its depth. And I'll likely always think D2 is peak Diablo. I've honestly been really into it, as have a couple friends. From character builds and skills to lore and theories, we have it all covered.
